DIY Birthday Cards From Kids

by - September 20, 2019

Receiving birthday cards from children is always so special. Especially if they made the card themselves, and with so many birthdays coming up this month from families and friends, I thought it would be a great idea for my son to make birthday cards for his dad and grandpa since they both share the same birthday. I saw a few ideas online on how to make a 3D birthday cake card and wanted to recreate it. Today I'll show you how you and your child can make your own birthday cards down below.

SUPPLIES USED:

  • Craft paper
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Colored Markers

STEP 1.) Start out by picking out 1 colored craft sheet of paper and a white one.

STEP 2.) Grab the white sheet of paper and cut all of the sides to get a nice frame on your card. Use your ruler to get a straight line on all sides.

STEP 3.) Then fold the sheet of paper in half, and make 4 cuts about an inch apart from one another.

STEP 4.) Open your card and refold the cuts you just created in the opposite directions to be able to have the cake stand out every time you open the card.

STEP 5.) Now let your child glue the white paper onto the blue paper.

STEP 6.) Cut out 8 candles and 8 tiny flames to place on top of the cake.

STEP 7) Now comes the fun part for your little one because it's time to decorate! Let your kids paint the front and inside of the card using either colored markers or acrylic paint.

STEP 8.) Have your child write a message on the birthday card. Use stamps or stickers if your child is too young to write.

All done hope you and your child enjoyed making special birthday cards for all of your loved ones!
