DIY Scrunchie

by - September 23, 2019

Scrunchies used to be every girl's go-to hair accessory back in the '90s. When I was younger, I used to have a verity of them in different colors and patterns. Ever since they got back in style, I wanted to get my hands on some again, but I didn't want to spend a crazy amount for them. That's when I decided to make my own instead. DIYing your own scrunchies is a lot easier than what you think and could be made from any fabric. Including leftover scrap (like in my case) or even an old t-shirt. Learn how easy it is to make your own scrunchies down below.

SUPPLIES USED:

  • Fabric Scrap (20 inches x 4 inches)
  • Elastic (9 inches)
  • Needle and Thread
  • Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1.) Cut the piece of fabric according to the measurements above.
Fold the fabric in half with the right sides facing each other and pin in place.

STEP 2.) Sew a straight line across the entire edge. Remove the pins and turn the fabric right side out.

STEP 3.) Place the elastic through the tube. ( I recommend using a safety pin to make it easier.)

STEP 4.) Tie 2 knots to secure the elastic

.
STEP 5.) Fold the edges and overlap the ends together. Sew in place and you are finished.

That's how easy it was to make this really cute scrunchie. Hope you decided to give it a try!
