DIY LAMP MAKEOVER

by - December 16, 2020

Hello everyone, welcome back! Today, I'm going to show you how easy it is to upcycle an old table lamp using a mixture of acrylic paint and baking powder to create ceramic paint. This is my first time using this technique, and I loved it. It made the lamp look simple and modern, which was the exact look I was going for. I can't wait to makeover more stuff I have lying around using ceramic paint.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • Table Lamp
  • Matte Acrylic Paint
  • Baking Powder
  • Paintbrushes
  • Empty container

DIRECTIONS:

1.) In an empty container, mix black acrylic paint (or any color you'd prefer) and baking powder. Add as much baking powder as you'd like until you achieve the consistency that you want. The more you add, the thicker the texture will be. (I did a 1:1 ratio for my mixture.)

2.) Remove the lampshade to avoid staining it with paint. Start painting the lamp using the ceramic paint mixture. Work quickly as the paint does dry fast. (I recommend two coats for full coverage)

3.) After the paint is completely dry, add the lampshade and you are done!
