This homemade coffee exfoliating soap is simple to make and smells amazing. It's a terrific way to brighten up your morning shower. Not to mention the fact that it can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

I decided to share my favorite soap bar recipe with all of you coffee lovers out there. I love the aroma of vanilla and coffee combined, and the burst of energy that follows is something I look forward to every time! Shea butter is well-known for its emollient properties. Mix it with some coffee grounds to help with cellulite reduction and to keep your skin looking healthy and smooth. The best part is that it only requires three ingredients! How's that for simple?

INGREDIENT BENEFITS:

SHEA BUTTER:

  • It's an emollient that moisturizes and softens the skin.
  • It may help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scarring.
  • Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe the skin.
  • Shea butter benefits those with acne, as it helps fight breakouts.
  • It promotes collagen production.
  • Prevents skin irritation.

COFFEE:

  • Coffee may help minimize the appearance of cellulite on the skin.
  • Coffee contains antioxidants, stimulants, and anti-inflammatory compounds, making it an effective acne treatment.
  • When used as a scrub, coffee can help remove dark spots, brighten dull skin, and smooth out uneven textures.
  • Caffeine in coffee can increase blood circulation and stimulate blood flow.
  • Caffeine has the ability to firm and tighten the skin.
HONEY:
  • Honey is a natural humectant that helps soften and hydrate the skin.
  • It helps heal the skin and reduces inflammation, which can help fade acne scars.
  • It can lighten and brighten dark spots.
  • Honey helps reverse signs of aging.

 INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 TBSP Coffee Grounds
  • 1 Pound Soap Base (melt and pour base)
  • 1-2 TBSP Honey
  • 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
  • 10 Drops of Cinnamon Essential Oil (optional)

WATCH THE VIDEO OR SKIP DOWN BELOW FOR THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:

DIRECTIONS:

1.) Cut the soap base into small cubes.
2.) Microwave the soap base for 45 seconds, then take it out and stir it. (Or place cubes in a double boiler. Heat over medium heat until melted.)
3.) Remove from heat and add the remaining ingredients. Stir everything together thoroughly.
4.) Pour into soap molds.
5.) Extra coffee grounds can be sprinkled on top if desired.
6.) To prevent air bubbles, lightly spray with rubbing alcohol.
7.) Allow at least two hours for the soap to set at room temperature.
8.) Remove the soaps from the molds once they have completely hardened.

Make your own Himalayan foot scrub using 4 ingredients. This scrub is perfect for removing dry, rough, and cracked skin. Exfoliating regularly is a great way to revitalize your feet, and thanks to the coconut oil used in this recipe, your feet will feel nourished, soft, and moisturized. I love using this foot scrub year-round, and since Christmas is right around the corner, I wanted to share this recipe just in case any of you needed a last-minute gift.

FOOT SCRUB INGREDIENT BENEFITS:

HIMALAYAN SALT: The Himalayan salt will be used in this recipe to naturally exfoliate and remove dead skin. It contains minerals to help soften and restore hydration. Himalayan salt has natural properties that detoxify the skin. It also contains magnesium that can help reduce inflammation.

COCONUT OIL: Coconut oil has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties. It also contains fatty acids that help nourish, hydrate, and protect the skin. That's why I like to add coconut oil to my exfoliating scrubs. Its emollient properties help repair the skin's barrier. Meanwhile, the antimicrobial properties kill off bacteria.

CASTILE SOAP: Castile soap is a non-toxic mild cleanser that is gentle on the skin because it's made of hydrating plant oils. It's safe to use for sensitive skin, as it won't strip your skin's natural oils or cause irritation. Castile soap can help reduce inflammation and contains antibacterial properties.

LAVENDER OIL: Besides its wonderful fragrance, lavender oil is known for its calming and relaxing abilities. It can also kill off bacteria and reduce inflammation.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup of Himalayan salt (fine)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil
  • 1 tsp castile soap
  • 5-10 drops lavender essential oil
  • (optional) a pinch of mica powder to color the scrub.

(WATCH THE VIDEO DOWN BELOW TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE A LAVENDER FOOT SCRUB.)

DIRECTIONS:

1.) In a bowl, add the Himalayan salt, coconut oil, castile soap, and drops of lavender oil.
2.) Stir to mix all of the ingredients.
3.) (Optional) To add color, add a pinch of purple mica powder.
4.) Transfer to an air-tight container.

HOW TO USE THE SCRUB IN A PEDICURE:

1.) Fill a large bowl with warm water and add a tbsp of the lavender foot scrub.
2.) Dip your feet in the prepared foot bath and allow them to soak for 10 minutes.
3.) Bring one foot out at a time and place a dap of the scrub onto the feet.
4.) Massage the scrub, focusing on the areas that are cracked to remove the dead skin and calluses.
5.) After a few minutes, rinse the scrub and dry your feet.
6.) Apply a moisturizer, and you're done!

DOES THIS FOOT SCRUB NEED A PRESERVATIVE?

This recipe doesn't contain water so it doesn't require a preservative.  It's important to note that whoever uses it makes sure no water gets into the scrub. As water can contaminate the product, causing bacteria and the growth of mold. It's best to use this foot scrub after the shower or for a pedicure.

Dealing with dark underarms could make you feel self-conscious, especially when they are in full display. One of the reasons I disliked wearing tank tops during the summer was my dark underarms. They were never super dark, but dark enough to make me feel insecure. If you are experiencing this problem, I have great news for you. Lightening your armpits is totally possible and easy to achieve using natural ingredients.

TURMERIC: Turmeric has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce dark spots and evens out the skin tone.

HONEY: Honey is antibacterial, contains antioxidants, minimizes inflammation, moisturizes, and brightens the skin.

LEMON: Lemon contains a high amount of vitamin C, which helps lighten the skin naturally and removes dead skin cells.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/2 lemon
  • enough water to make a paste consistency

DIRECTION:

1.) In a small bowl, add the baking soda and turmeric powder.

2.) Add the honey, lemon, and water.

3.) Mix well to combine all of the ingredients until you obtain a paste consistency.

HOW TO USE:

1.) Apply the mixture to the underarms.

2.) Leave it for about 5-10 minutes and wash it off.

* Recommend using 3-4 times a week*

*Do not apply on recently shaved underarms as it may cause irritation.*

A year ago, I published a post discussing cellulite and 6 natural ways to minimize it. (If you haven't read it, I'll leave a link to that post here.) On one of the topics, I mentioned that coffee can help reduce the appearance of cellulite. I recommended making a coffee body scrub for a reason. This recipe is effective, natural, and only has three main ingredients.

COFFEE: The caffeine in coffee can help treat cellulite and lessen its appearance. Massaging coffee grounds on the affected area can improve blood flow, circulation, tighten and plump the skin.

COCONUT OIL: Coconut oil contains collagen-boosting properties that can naturally improve the look of cellulite. It could help nourish, firm, tighten, and smooth the skin.

BROWN SUGAR: Brown sugar is a natural ingredient used in many homemade body scrubs to exfoliate. It's gentle on the skin, removes dead skin cells, moisturizes, and softens the skin.

 INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 tbsp ground coffee
  • 5 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp of fractionated coconut oil or olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

1.) In a glass bowl, add the ground coffee, brown sugar, coconut oil, and vanilla extract.
2.) Mix everything well to combine all of the ingredients.

HOW TO USE:

1.) Massage the mixture in the trouble area for 2-5 minutes.
2.) Once you are done, rinse the area with water and pat dry.

NOTE:
  • Store the leftover scrub in an air-tight container.
  • Repeat this procedure 2-3 times a week.
