I love terracotta pots because they're affordable, easily accessible, and are fun to customize. I found these mini planters at my local dollar tree, along with these succulents. I went for a simple design that is easy to recreate.  I love the overlapping layers of paint that give the pots a more modern look. I picked neutral colors to match the decor in my home, but I know it would also look great in vibrant colors.

 MATERIALS:

  • Terracotta pots
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Succulents

WATCH THE VIDEO OR SKIP DOWN BELOW FOR THE PICTURE TUTORIAL:

DIRECTIONS:

1.) Pick three complementary colors to paint your pot. Start by painting the pot with the lightest color ( I decided to use white.)

2.) Once the paint dries, paint half of the pot using a tan/khaki color.

3.) Then, paint the bottom half using a darker shade of brown.

4.) To finish the design, paint a crescent moon using gold paint.

5.) Once the paint dries completely, add in your favorite plants. I used these fake succulents from the dollar store.

These decorative seashell candles have been my fav little project I've made this year. It cost little to no money to make and looks beautiful displayed. I'm a candle fanatic, so when I saw these seashell candles on tik tok, I knew I had to make them. Using seashells as candleholders is a fun and unique way of displaying your candles. I've had a bag of seashells that I purchased years ago and never got the opportunity to use them until now. You can also purchase a bag of seashells at the dollar tree. Better yet, if you live near the beach, you can definitely look for some there. Learn how easy it is to make these beautiful seashell candles in less than 20 minutes.

Hello friends, I'm excited to share with you all a fun DIY project using jute and nautical rope to make a beautiful bohemian placemat. If you guys didn't know, I've been giving my rental kitchen a makeover for a little while now. I recently upcycled a wooden dining table and added a few wall decor pieces. To finish the makeover, I wanted plate chargers that suited the new aesthetic of the kitchen. I found the perfect placemats on Anthropologie, but the price, however, was a bit pricey for my liking. I figured I could try making it myself for a fraction of the cost.

MATERIALS:

  • Jute rope
  • Cotton nautical rope
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1.) Start by cutting 2 pieces of cardboard or fabric the size you want your placemats to be.

2.) Add glue to the end of the rope and begin wrapping it tightly into a circle. Glue the bottom of it to the center of your cardboard.

3.) Continue wrapping the rest of the rope tightly until you reach the desired size.

4.) For the fringe, I unraveled the nautical rope from the dollar tree into three sections.

5.) I cut the rope into 3-inch pieces. I gathered the chunk and glued it to the back of the placemat.

6.) I repeated the same steps going around the entire placemat.

7.) I brushed the fringe with a comb and trimmed the ends for an even look.

7.) For extra sturdiness and a cleaner look, I glued the second piece of cardboard that I cut in step one to the back of the placemat.

I can't believe 2020 is almost over. It was a heck of a year for everyone. No matter what happened, I couldn't be happier that it was finally coming to an end. With Christmas right around the corner, I was really excited to start shopping for everyone. Especially for my son, now that he's older, looking for things he likes was so much fun. Since I have a lot of wrapping to do, I thought I would share with you guys my fav tips and tricks for wrapping gifts using items from the dollar tree. You'd be surprised by how many amazing things you can find there. One of my favorite finds was the chalkboard tags because I can reuse them every year and the baker twine.

MATERIAL NEEDED:

  • White Kraft Paper
  • Brown Kraft Paper
  • Kraft Gift Box
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Lace Ribbon
  • Jute Twine
  • Baker Twine
  • Chalkboard Tags/ Marker
  • Black & White Paint/ Paintbrushes
  • Greenery

DIRECTIONS:

1ST GIFT IDEA:

1.) This gift idea is the easiest of them all. Start by wrapping a lace ribbon around the kraft box, and tie a simple bow.

2.) Add a tag to the box and some greenery.

2ND GIFT IDEA:

1.) Wrap the gift like you usually would with brown kraft paper.

2.) Rip a piece of white kraft paper.

3.) Wrap the stripe around the gift, and secure the ends with tape.

4.) Wrap the box with burlap ribbon and secure the ends with tape.

5.) Next, take some twine and wrap it around the box. Then, tie the ends into a bow.

6.) To finish, top off the present with some greenery and a tag.

3RD GIFT IDEA:

1.) Wrap the present with brown kraft paper.

2.) In a container, add 1 part of the black acrylic paint and another part of the water. Mix well to combine the mixture. Do the same with the white paint.

3.) Dip the brush in the paint and flick the brush onto the paper.

4.) Continue flicking the brush onto the paper until you are satisfied with the results.

5.) Once the paint dries, wrap baker twine around the gift several times, add the greenery and the chalkboard tag.

Hello everyone and welcome back! A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through the Anthropologie website when I stumbled upon a knife holder that I fell in love with. The only issue was the prize, which was between 48-98 dollars. Yup, there's no way I was going to pay that much. That's when I had the magnificent idea to try and recreate the knife holder myself, and let me tell you, I freaking loved how awesome it turned out!!! It looks almost identical to the one from Anthropologie, and I made it using mostly items from the dollar tree, so if you guys want to learn how I made this unique looking knife holder, then keep on scrolling...

My initial plan was to use the tumbling tower blocks to make the knife holder as they're already the perfect size. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough blocks to make it. If you happen to have enough blocks, I recommend using them instead of the popsicle sticks, as it would be easier and a lot faster to make. 😊

DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I get a commission if you decided to make a purchase through my links, at no cost to YOU. Please read my disclosure for more information.

SUPPLIES USED:
  • A pack or 2 of popsicle sticks
  • Wood Stain
  • Hand Saw
  • Scissors
  • Wood glue
  • 3 thin plywoods
  • Sandpaper
  • 2 canvas panel
  • Skewers or bag of lentils

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.) Begin by cutting the ends of 30 popsicle sticks. Cut more if needed.

2.) Cut 7 popsicle sticks in half. ( You should end up with 14 smaller sticks in total.)

3.) Line the sticks down the center of the canvas in a "zig-zag" pattern.

4.) Paint the canvas board a color similar to the wood stain you are going to be using.

5.) Glue the sticks in place.

6.) Stain the rest of the popsicle sticks. Making sure to stain some darker than the others.

7.) Carefully cut them into randomly sized pieces.

8.) Glue the sticks on the canvas. One row at a time until you reach the end.

9.) Repeat the same step a second time for the back of the board, or paint it. Whatever you'd prefer.

10.) Meanwhile, everything dries stain and cut the plywood to size.

11.) Once everything is fully dried, glue the 4 pieces to the 3rd plywood to form the knife block.

12.) Glue some sticks along the edges to reinforce the knife block.

13.) To make the knife block look identical to the one from Anthropologie, place some bamboo skewers inside.

Unfortunately for me, the bamboo skewers were a couple inches taller than the knife block, and I didn't have the patience to custom-cut each bamboo skewer to size.

However, I did come up with another idea, which was to fill the block with lentils, and honestly, it looks just as good.

How To Make A Christmas Wreath 2 Ways To Display

Christmas is finally approaching us one of the happiest times of the year. I couldn't wait to share with you guys my first Christmas DIY of the month, and what better way to get crafting, than with a simple, cute, and affordable wreath. Using all items from the dollar store. This mini festive wreath only cost me 4 dollars, so if you want to learn how I made it check down below for the full tutorial.

SUPPLIES USED:

  • Mini Wreath
  • 1 Red Berry
  • 2 Green Pines
  • Adhesive of Choice ( I used a hot glue gun)
  • Wire or String (to hang the wreath)

INSTRUCTION:

1. Remove the green pines and red berries from their steam, if you haven't done so already.

2. Glue each individual green pine on the wreath until it's fully covered.

3. Then add the berries for extra dimension and allow it to dry completely. It should only take a few minutes since the hot glue dries pretty quickly.

4. To hang the wreath, tie a string on both sides. Now it's ready to hang.

It looks great!

5. If you'd rather display it as a centerpiece skip step #4. Add some candles in the center and you are all finished!

That's it for today guys, thank you so much for stopping by. Happy holidays everyone, until next time...
